Mitchelstown

Mitchelstown is a vibrant town at the foot of the Galtee Mountains and because of its location, is the perfect spot for visitors if they wish to travel in the south of Ireland. Mitchelstown, and the villages and townlands that make up its hinterland, is an area of great beauty, agricultural richness, culture and heritage.

It is located in the heart of an area known as the “Golden Vale”, and is famous for its cheese. There are two attractive squares in the town, part of a formally laid out plan for the town initiated in the early 19th Century.  Ballyhoura Country is an walking and mountain biking area rise to the west of the town and the higher Galtee mountains lie to the north-west of the Mitchelstown to Cahir road. You also have easy access to the historical & cultural sites sites of Tipperary and the rest of North Cork.

An 18 hole Golf Course is also popular with locals and visitors alike and a few miles from the town are the spectacular Mitchelstown Caves.
