Money & Banking

Ireland is part of the Eurozone and accordingly use the Euro currency.

Denominations are

Coins come in denominations of 1,2,5,10, 20 & 50 cents and €1.00 &  €2.00 coins.

Notes come in 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 and 500 euro notes.

ATM’s (cash machines) are widely available throughout the region. While money & traveller cheques can be exchanged at banks (1000 – 1600 Mon – Fri). Bureaux des changes are  also widely located throughout the region.

Credit Cards are widely accepted in shops, restaurants, hotels etc.

The two major high street banks are Allied Irish Banks (AIB) and Bank of Ireland and these are found in most towns throughout the country.
