3 Day Tour of Cork’s Wild Atlantic Way

The Wild Atlantic Way is one of the world’s most naturally stunning coastal routes, with mesmerizing coastal scenes to be found at every corner of the 2500 kilometre stretch of land. Cork boasts a significant number of those special images, and this 3-day taster tour of Cork’s Wild Atlantic Way will let you see the unbridled natural magnificence along the way from Cork to Bantry Bay and back again.

Day 1 – Drive From Cork to Bantry

Depart from Cork City towards West Cork. The spectacular drive sees the gradual increase in the natural beauty of the landscape as you travel further through West Cork. Travelling through the Cork towns of Bandon, Clonakilty and Skibbereen on your way to Bantry, you will encounter various picturesque mountainous and waterside settings. Along the way, make sure to stop at the Model Railway Village in Clonakilty, The Skibbereen Heritage Centre or Lough Hyne, before arriving in the idyllic seaside town of Bantry.

Day 2 – Explore Schull and Mizen Head

After breakfast in your fine hotel, make your way south to Schull, the charming old town in the south-west of Cork. Take some time to explore the local streets and take in the fresh sea air, before enjoying a leisurely traditional Irish lunch. Then proceed on to Mizen Head, the most south-westerly point in all of Ireland. Follow the Mizen Head Drive and enjoy a multitude of wild panoramic views of the Wild Atlantic Way, before touring the Mizen Head Visitor Centre.

Day 3 – Bantry House and Gardens, Garnish Island and Moonlight Kayaking

Conclude your spectacular three day sojurn in Cork’s Wild Atlantic Way by taking in the local sights in Bantry. Bantry Bay is a wonderful piece of coastal landscape, with many beautiful destinations both on and off the mainland. Garnish Island is an unmissable place to visit, with the fantastic greenery to be found on the island a delight to behold. Bantry House and Gardens is another great place to visit, with the pristine gardens a wonderful accompaniment to the country mansion. And, after a final fantastic West Cork meal, embark upon the final adventure on your trip – a moonlight kayaking trip around either Lough Hyne or Castlehaven. There could be no more enjoyable way to cap off this spectacular trip to Cork’s Wild Atlantic Way.
